As a thrift shop, The Giving Closet relies on donations from the community. We contribute to every part of the used goods upcycling process by facilitating decluttering, testing and cleaning items, and finding new homes for old pieces. We accept all kinds of donation items, from clothing and footwear, to jewelry and accessories, dishes and glassware, decor and furniture, electronics and appliances, books and toys, collectibles and physical media, and so much more. See below for items we do not accept.
Donations can be dropped off at the donation door at the back of the building during donation hours (please don't leave items by the door outside of the hours).
If you have furniture donations that you would like us to pickup, please fill out the provided Pick-Up Form and we will be in contact with you soon!

This form asks you to include imagery of your furniture for donation. If you're unable to take photos of your furniture, please instead email us directly at thegivingclosetthriftshop@gmail.com.
Unaccepted Items
Please ensure none of the following items find themselves among your donation items.

Mattresses and box springs

Car seats and car booster seats

Protective helmets (bicycle, hockey, etc.)

Window blinds with cords

Large multi-piece entertainment centres

Construction material (ex. paint, lumber, etc.)

Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors

Damaged furniture of any kind

Pianos and organs (keyboards are accepted)

Bed pillows
-
Lawn darts with metal tips
-
Infant bath seats and bath rings
-
Children's jewelry
-
Chemicals of any kind

Toy boxes without side vent holes
Please note:

We can only accept cribs, highchairs, bassinets, and playpens that are in excellent condition and working order. This means no broken or missing parts, plus all original warning labels and instructions must accompany these items

Pictures of furniture to be donated must be supplied to the store before any furniture items can be accepted

All donated items must be from a smoke-free, bug-free house. We do not accept any items from apartment buildings
